We currently offer five adult book clubs to give adults in our community the opportunity to share their feelings and ideas about great books with thought-provoking and lively discussion with other library patrons.
If you have more questions about any of our clubs, or would like to join, reach out to the Director of Adult Services Mike Curtis.
Anyone can join the Lunch Bunch Book Club when they meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at noon. Many members bring their lunch and enjoy dining with friends as they discuss a variety of books – from best sellers and memoirs to historical fiction and mysteries.

The Roaming Readers meet twice a month at Hoover Forest Preserve. Unlike a traditional book club, the Roaming Readers do not read a certain book each month – instead, they get out in nature, wander in the woods, enjoy some fresh air, and chat about whatever they’ve been reading lately. The Roamers love to share their favorite authors and books that have gotten them excited recently.
If you’d like to join them, meet the Roaming Readers at Hoover Forest Preserve (11285 W Fox Road in Yorkville) in the gravel parking lot closest to Fox Road (don’t go past the train tracks) at 9am on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.
Click here to see what the Roaming Readers have recently recommended.
This new book club is a book club for readers who love to eat… or is it for eaters who love to read? The Books & Cooks group spends their meeting time sharing food they’ve been inspired to create by the reading that month – then we chow down while discussing the book.
|October 2, 2023||Around the World in 80 Sandwiches||Mike Curtis|
|November 7, 2023||California Soul: An American Epic of Cooking and Survival||Keith Corbin|
Horror Book Club
Do you enjoy the spooky, the scary, the creepy, and the eerie? This might be the book club for you. Meeting the fourth Monday of each month at 7;00 pm, the Horror Book Club will delve into the dark, mysterious, and macabre stories from classics like Poe and Shelley, to all-time greats like King and Koontz, to the new masters of horror like Joe Hill and Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Join us for exciting discussions each month.
|September 25, 2023||The Book of Accidents||Chuck Wendig|
Psychological Thriller Book Club
On the third Wednesday of each month, you can join along with our new Psychological Thriller Book Club – a brand new book club focused on Psychological Thrillers, Mind-bending Mysteries, and Suspenseful Stories. If you love those gripping tales that leave you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out whodunnit or how your hero/heroine is going to get themselves out of this jam… then this might be the book club for you.
First book will be determined at the first meeting on October 18th @ 7:00 pm
If you have an idea or suggestion for a new book club, please contact Adult Services Director Mike Curtis.
