English Language Learners
The Yorkville Public Library and a few gracious volunteers recently started a few small group ELL (English Language Learners) classes.
We are looking for additional volunteers who’d be willing to sit with a small group of adults who are learning the English language and have informal conversations, read short books/stories with them, and help them become more comfortable using the English they’ve learned.
Volunteers do not need to be able to speak Spanish (or any other foreign language), they just have to be kind-hearted, willing to donate some time, and be eager to help folks in the community.
This informational meeting will answer a lot of your questions and go over the plans for the program.
In this twelve part series, the Yorkville Library helps seniors learn the basics of computers. Classes are hands on and limited to just five participants to ensure patrons get the attention they need and have their questions answered. Registration is required.
Microsoft Excel Classes
In this four part series, you can gain skills in Microsoft Excel. Learn to analyze data, make spreadsheets, and tables, or even create your own budged. Patrons are asked to bring their own laptops if possible (the library does has a limited number of computers to share). Registration is required.
Learn to cook healthy meals with our Certified Holistic Health Coach, Jess. Once a month, Jess will teach us simple cooking techniques with ingredients that fuel our bodies better and get us back on track. Space is limited, so be sure to register.
